FAQ: Does #Sunthing have a theme? Yes and no. #Sunthing was loosely inspired by my study of Oulipo-writing. Unlike most twitter prompts, which provide a particular word to include in your writing, #Sunthing is intended to provide interesting and unusual writing restrictions. This could be anything from avoiding a certain letter to writing without dialogue, from mimicking a favourite author’s style to including a pun or wordplay. Then again, one week it might simply be an ordinary prompt word, just to keep you on your toes. Really, the only rule is that each prompt will strive to be in some way unusual, unorthodox and unpredictable. So what is this “Oulipo” thing? Oulipo is short for Ouvroir De Littérature Potentielle, roughly translated as the “workshop of potential literature”.
